Night time eating disorder (NES)

Hello everyone,

I’m so excited because I have had a chance to work on my “No-dinner Diet” book the last few days. A few days ago, I found something very interesting. In my past lectures, I joked often about how many people are so addicted to over eating that there is even a disorder called sleep-eating. People actually eat in their sleep, without even knowing it.

It is similar to sleep-walking, but instead they are going to the fridge and eating. Crazy as it sounds, I was only joking. After doing some research, I discovered that sleep-eating is a true disorder. How difficult it must be trying to deal with over-eating and obesity when you are not even aware that you are eating.

I found the answer. It’s over eating and being well aware of it and believing you can do something about it. I found out there is also a disorder called “Night-time Eating Syndrome (NES).” Leave it to doctors to give people an excuse to be weak and give into their harmful temptations. In my lectures, I tell people there is a difference between a habit and an addiction. With a habit, we do something we usually enjoy on a normal basis but when we find out it is bad for us, we stop doing it. We break the habit. However, with an addiction, when we find out it is harmful for us, we make excuses to keep doing it. We must change are addictions to habits and break them!

One of the biggest addictions we have is eating at nighttime. In my new book, I will discuss the history of eating at night, when and why it started, etc., and the disease and newly name disorders doctors “discovered” once people started to eat more often and eat later at night. Another big thing I found in my research that I will write about in my new book is that for years, I’ve been telling everyone about the addiction of Tel-a-vision. The T.V. advertisers know how to make us eat. I found it interesting that NES was first discovered in 1955. Well, that’s when T.V. started to become more popular.

In my last blog, I wrote about my daily exercise routine and the machines I’m using each morning to help my body get in the best shape ever, and also to relax and stop living off adrenalin. I’m happy that some of my readers listened and have inquired about the machines. If you didn’t see my last blog, check out the videos there. I’m starting to notice for the first time in many years my body getting the proper amount of sleep that is needed. I’ll write more about that in a future blog. Have a great day.

Exercise & Sleep

Hello everyone,
Today’s blog is about a very neglected subject that many healthy eaters do not get enough of, rest and exercise.

I am excited to write often for my blog, but have to remember not to put my health in jeopardy. People have asked me for years how I find the time to write so much. I would go against everything I believe and preach about health, just to write another article or one more page of a book. I was sleeping and exercising less to write more, keeping up with e-mails, etc. But no more! My health is more important.

However, there is no need to worry, because now that I’m eating less food than I ever have, I require less sleep. In my book “The Formula for Health” I reveal the answer to making sure we get enough sleep, not wasting energy. What does waste mean? If we don’t need to use it, why do we? Years of overeating and eating too late at night have led me to need much more sleep that I was not able to get. Now I have the time to get the amount of sleep my body needs, 7 to 8 hours a night (before, I think I needed 9 to 10 hours, even on raw, that’s what eating late and over eating does). So that takes care of the important sleep issue, but what about exercise?

This one is where I had to make an even bigger sacrifice. I’ve always loved exercising. I spent most of my teenage life and twenties in and out of gyms, outside exercising or some form of a sport to keep fit. But as my passion and knowledge grew about health, I would wake-up in the morning and be so excited about writing that I would rush to my computer and start writing!

After years of rushing through a quick workout, knowing I could and should do better, I’ve realized older age is not the only reason people tend to put on more fat or flab and start feeling aches and pains that they never felt before. One of the main reasons is they become so busy in life that they forget about exercise. They use the excuse that they don’t have time for exercise. Many of us have more valuable things to do with our time as we are older; kids, work, etc. However, sitting in front of the television should not be one of the things that steal our important exercise time.

I’ve always been into schedules. I believe they help us stay on track. Some time ago, I made a time budget and it has helped me so much. Being at home makes it is easier for me to stick to this schedule. Traveling makes it a little harder, but in time I will figure that one out.

You take your most important activities and make sure they are in your budget. For me, the most important activities are reading the bible everyday, spending quality time with my wife, exercising for my own health, and after all that, I can play around with the rest. But these are things I need everyday.

I used to get up and run right to the computer to work. Now, before 9 a.m. is my time. That’s the time I can do my personal stuff. Depending upon what time I wake up will determine how much time I can give myself. If I wake at 8:50 a.m., I’m not going to be too happy. I want to make sure I get enough sleep so I find this to be the most motivating reason for me not to stay up late at night.

So, I get up in the morning, exercise and eat my first meal. Usually before 9 a.m. Then at 9 a.m. I am refreshed and ready to work.

One thing I realized is that many people are living off adrenalin and exhausting their adrenal glands. They are feeling great, doing a lot of exercise, but this is not good if you are exhausting your adrenal glands in the process. This leads to many issues, from low hormones or severe fatigue. The first thing I do in the morning is some relaxing exercises to get my body ready for the day. Other than my “No-dinner Diet,” and nightly dry fast, the biggest changes I’ve made in my life have been taking time to relax!

So how do I relax? I’m going to tell you things that help me relax; three I try to do every morning and night.

1-The Nun Ancon Chi Machine
The Sun Ancon Chi Machine offers you a full body massage, including internal organs and all body systems. A 15 minute massage is estimated to be the equivalent of walking ten thousand paces (about 90 minutes), in terms of body oxygenation. If used with proven relaxation techniques, there's no limit to the potential scope of healing and fitness enhancement for the body and mind.

After just spending 3 days at a friend’s house using this machine, I was more relaxed than I have been in years. Now, after using it everyday, first thing in the morning and right before going to bed, I am convinced every one of all ages and fitness levels can benefit from this machine. Not only does it help me calm down, but it also helps my body eliminate toxins and provide essential benefits of sporting and fitness programs without putting stress on the body such as vertebrae joints, heart and lungs, and without depleting body energy levels or causing injury.

2-The Infrared HotHouse (FIR Dome)
This is another machine I use at the same time as the Chi Machine.
The HotHouse is a little dome, that produces it's effect through radiant far infrared rays of heat, also known as "FIR". Its unique arched design increases the thermal effect received by the body. The radiant heat enhances my body's natural functions. It enhances my blood circulation, increases my metabolism, and stimulates the health of my internal organs. I do both the Chi machine and HotHouse Dome after I wake in the morning

3-Rebounding

The third thing I like to do every morning is rebound. Jumping on a rebounder (mini trampoline) helps me wake-up each day and stay fit. It’s a great combination of an aerobic and strength workout. It also is less stressful on the body than jogging.
I usually us the chi machine and hot house for about 15 minutes and rebound for about 20 minutes each morning, and then I lift weights and do core exercises for about 60 min.

So that’s my morning exercises. Of course I like to mix it up and will sometimes bike, run or swim, but that’s the main part of it. I have researched for a very long time to find an exercise program that is gong to give my body the workout I need, but while having a gentle impact while not just working out and running on adrenalin, but truly helping my body cleanse and rebuild.

At night time before I go to bed,

1-Electro Reflex Energizer

When I was a teen-ager, I remember hurting my lower back playing at the beach lifting someone in the water. I was going to the gym everyday up to that point, but after I hurt my back, forget about the gym, I had trouble walking. Each step was so painful. I went to a chiropractor once a week for about a month. Each time he had me lay on my stomach on a massage bed and would put these electric pads on my lower back. In about 10 or 15 minutes, my pain went away.

After four weeks, I was better then ever. At that time, I really didn’t care much about what he did, I was just happy I was better and can get back to the gym. Recently, I was introduced to the Electro Reflex Energizer machine, an instrument that helps reconnect broken or damaged electrical circuits within the body by stimulating it with the correct wave form, current, and frequency. When there is pain in the body there, is electrical resistance, meaning the electrical signals between cells are suppressed. My body felt the same comfort from the Reflex Machine as those electric pads. I’m not sure they are the same thing, but I can tell you anyone who gets a foot massage feels amazing. Reflexology also helps to relax the body. This machine also helps break up tight muscles, great for the end of the day, it relieves any pain (I used it after painting my house and it helped so much) and produce over all excellent health. It is even known to kill parasites and worms in the body. Consistent use of the ERE can help restore the flow of electricity through the painful area so that circuits remain turned on and healing can be promoted.
After using the Reflex Machine, I stretch my body a little. Then I take a nice little, or sometimes long walk, with my wife. This is something that I never really did before. I never walked unless I had to be somewhere or I wanted exercise and it would be brisk walking up a hill or something. Now, it’s a nice stroll. Not only does it give me time to spend with my wife, but it is also so relaxing. If my wife isn’t there, I do not use a radio, I just enjoy the peace and quite. Growing up in the city, I never walked anywhere with out headphones in my ears. And while we are on the subject of the radio, I must be getting old because I have found listening to classical music the must beautiful relaxing thing in the world! Something I never imagined I would enjoy has now become an important part of my day. Whenever I’m using the Hothouse Dome, I listen to classical music. It also helps me think and when I’m working all day, I listen to classical music at my desk.

If you would like any more information about these machines I mentioned above, for the rebounder click here, and for the other three machines click here. You can see a great video that talks about these machines. They are the best investments I’ve made in my health in a long time. After viewing the video if you are interested in making these great investments in your own health call me at 561-337-9299 and I will get you a special price and answer any questions you have. You can also email me at paul@rawlife.com

I can not forget to mention every morning and night I skin brush to help cleanse my body and the most important thing I do daily is read the bible right before going to sleep.

So I spend about 1:45 min in the morning and about 1 hour at night taking care of myself. I am more refreshed, mentally focused and more productive. If I am not able to find the time to write every day, or if it takes 2 years instead of 1 year to come out with my next book, now you know why.
Have a great day everyone.

The best diet in the world! Weight issues.

Hello everyone,
Last night I spoke at The Hippocrates Health Institute to a wonderful crowd. I gave my lecture about “The Formula for Health.” Everyone seemed to love it. This lecture is on DVD. You can order this at this link. Paul's DVD just click on the link to order.

You can also view some clips of it on youtube. Raw Knowledge, ran a fasting retreat in West Palm Beach, Florida. I asked him if he ever fasted, he said no, he didn’t have to because he didn’t overeat. I have to laugh when people ask me if I eat so little, then where do I get my energy. When I get a good night of uninterrupted stage four sleep, my body is cleansing and recharging and I wake up with so much energy. Right now, I’m eating two meals a day but to be honest, I don’t even feel hungry at the 2nd meal. My morning meal is usually a nut milk based shake or green drink, and my 2nd meal is usually a big salad. We will see as time goes on how I feel.

Some of you may be wondering about my weight. I know there is a concern of looking too skinny on a raw diet. I could really care less if people think I’m too skinny or too fat but my weight is just fine because I am exercising which is so important. (I’ll talk about that in another post) but I have noticed a big loss in my waste size since I’ve stopped eating fruit. I think this is due to not having a ton of fermented gas just sitting in my belly. I am no longer bloated. My muscles are the same size and my skin is glowing. All this with a smaller waist, a look that I’ve been trying to get since I was a teenager! For the first time in my life I can see my stomach muscles. Amazing!

Well I hope you all enjoyed this post and my most recent newsletter. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my post. I look forward to any comments, suggestions or questions. Have a great day.

Less water, deeper sleep

It’s 4:00 PM right now. I finished my last meal around 2:30 p.m. and I do not plan on eating for the rest of the night. Last night was the first night I tried a new experiment. I still want to do more research, but after my last meal, I dry fasted for the rest of the day and night. For as long as I can remember, I would always drink water right before going to sleep.

Why would I do this?
When I wrote my last book, I always spoke about the value of getting good sleep. It is so important to optimum health. But what is good sleep? It’s not just the amount of hours you sleep, but also how deep your sleep is. A full night of sleep tossing and turning does not come close to a few good hours. The best is many hours deep sleep throughout the night. There are many stages to sleep. Stage 4 is the deep stage where cleansing and healing really take place. Okay, so the water issue. I was listening to Dr. Brian Clement on you tube and one of the questions someone asked was:

Click here to see video of brian talking about this issue

“Brian, if you suggest not consuming water 3 to 4 hours before going to be, won’t that dehydrate a person?”
His response was “not if you are eating a healthy diet.” Brian used himself as an example and said he drinks a lot of water and other green juices from the time he gets up so he doesn’t need to drink at night. Now what’s wrong with drinking at night time? Well, if we drink right before we go to sleep , we have to get up during the night to go the bathroom, taking us out of the deep stage 4 sleep. So I tried it, a dry fast, and it worked! I felt I slept better, woke-up more rested, in fact so rested, after my morning workout I ran about 2 ½ miles!

Why did I feel so great and will everyone feel as good as I did? We have to understand not everyone will feel as good as I did right away but in the long run it is best. The more time the body has to clean out, or detox the better off it will be, but during the detox it might not feel that great. Well in this case you would be sleeping so it wouldn’t be too bad and when you break your fast in the morning, with guess what, yes, water, you’ll be fine.

Basically, there are different types of fasting. There is juice fasting, water fasting and true water fasting, that really means fasting from water. What people call water fasting today is only drinking water, which is really not the right term. They should call that a water diet.

So, I’ll keep experimenting with this, and I will keep my readers updated. In the meantime I suggest everyone start getting used to “THE NO-DINNER DIET” and try not drinking too much water after dinner. I have a lot more to share in future blogs, so stay tuned.

The "No-Dinner Diet"

I've learned more in the last 5 months about health and the raw food diet than I have in 15 years of eating this way. Even more important, I'm living proof it works! I'm going to be talking about all of these things in this blog and also my newsletter that you can sign up for by clicking here: Paul's email list.

I am finding more and more people running into issues with the raw diet. Not only new people, but some have been eating this way for a long time. Some of the major things I believe many people are doing wrong are:
-Not getting enough sleep, exercise and water.
-Over eating; eating too often and too late at night.
-Not monitoring their chemistry (blood work).
-Worrying too much.
-Not having fun with their new healthy lifestyle.
-Eating way too much fruit and raw junk foods.
-Not relaxing.
-Not working at a job they love.

These are issues that are becoming more common. Of course each person has to go at a pace based on how long they have been eating a healthy diet. If my sister, who eats very bad (no fresh fruits or vegetables), told me she wanted to eat better, I would tell her about green smoothies, just so she can find a way to enjoy the taste of green foods. But after she got used to eating those, then she would have to take it to the next level. As your body gets cleaner, your diet has to become cleaner as well. One of the biggest issues I run into is that people never change the way they eat. They start eating a raw diet by stuffing their belly with raw junk foods, raw recipes, etc., and years later they are doing the same thing. It's all about levels, and we have to keep shooting for the next level. That's why when someone asks me what I ate today, I usually tell them a better question would be "What foods do you suggest I consume for where I am in my health path?"

I've been eating this way for many years now. I consume much less food and don't eat very often, which is almost the opposite of what I did when I started.
Okay, enough for today. I'll continue to help you in future posts. Please email me your questions to paul@rawlife.com. I'll be happy to help you anyway I can.
Have a great day.

What a morning

Today was a great a great morning. The reason why is because yesterday I didn't eat any food or drink after lunch, around 3 pm. Since I researched and wrote my book, Health According to The Scriptures, I have discovered that the ideal times to consume a meal are the beginning of the 3rd hour and 9th hour everyday, or at least close to those times. To my joyful surprise I was reading a new book by तTonya Zavasta called "Quantum Eating." Tonya has also discovered the same conclusion about not eating after 3 or 4 p.m. while conducting her own research. To put the research to the test, I spent the last 6 months experimenting with this, some days eating my last meal no later than 3 p.m., and other days eating my last meal around 6 or 7 p.m. I also purposefully ate some meals later at night just to confirm this. The biggest result I noticed was better sleep, and I felt much better the next day. Overall, I found myself less hungry with more energy throughout the day.

But it's not just the time we eat, it's also what we eat. I found that by eating the proper foods throughout the day, most of us will have no problem consuming only one or two meals a day. However, if we don't eat the proper way, we will feel very hungry at night time and will usually cave into our cravings and eat later into the night.

What is the proper meal for everyone? There are too many people today, especially raw food eaters who are making mistakes when it comes to their diet. They are eating for the wrong reasons. I find that most people today are changing their diet for the wrong reasons. For example, many people today involved in health do it in this order:
1-To look good
2-To feel good
3-To eat according to their chemistry

When in fact we should be doing the reverse.
When we first establish a diet and lifestyle based on our chemistry, and with good discipline and consistency, we will feel great and look great.

What diet is best?
Amongst all the diets being promoted today, the Hippocrates Health Institute
in West Palm बाच, Florida, has the best program for everyone! They have more than 50 years of testing, experience, and results! I highly suggest people read books by Ann Wigmore and Brian Clement. These books discuss the HHI diet and program. You can now visit Youtube and see many video's by Brian on all sorts of topics.

Before anyone writes me and says "there is no diet best for everyone," let me tell you
that there is nothing this diet leaves out. Making a few modifications to adjust to your chemistry will help everyone thrive. In the future postings, I will be discussing:
-what is wrong with many of the raw diets today
-how to figure out what diet is best for your chemistry
-my progress and now studies
-the role of supplements

Everyone, have a great day.

It's a wonderful life! And keeps getting better!

Hello everyone, welcome to my blog. I must be the most blessed man in the world. I know about the health benefits of eating a healthy diet, and I have the discipline to do it with no cravings for junk food, I have a continuously growing relationship with our Creator Yahweh and best of all Yahweh has blessed me with the most beautiful wife in the world. Can it get better than this? It sure can, I have a job where I introduce people and let them know about the benefits of the raw food diet, I help lead people to read for themselves the best health book every written, The Bible, and my wife Andrea and I enjoy spending many of our days at The Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm beach Florida.
Just when I think life can't get any better, it does. Why does this keep happening? The answer is simple! I pray every day, do my best to learn more about pleasing Yahweh everyday, and take care of the temple that Yahweh has given me, my body. It is my strong prayer my good friends and everyone will build a relationship with Yahweh and not only know about His Son and Our Savour Yeshua, but will develop a personal relationship with Him. There is still time and if I can do it, a guy from Brooklyn NY who grew up eating the worst diet in the world and never reading a bible or caring about anything spiritual, anyone can. Remember if you say you can't, then you can't. If you say you don't want to, then your not very wise. But if you believe in yourself, have faith, and take action, you also can have a wonderful life.
