Health and the Scriptures. To follow up from my last post “The Banana Diet”, I first want to say I have indulged in many bananas over the years. But I am personally not consuming any bananas now and I haven't for the last 7 months. The reason is that I'm cutting back on my sugar intake and bananas are very high in sugar. They are also not easy to find ripe in the stores.
I will do my best to update everyone on my daily diet, but I first want to remind everyone that just because I eat this way, it doesn't mean it is best or you. Without a doubt, the raw food diet is best for everyone, but how much and how often should be a personal choice based on your goals, health, and how long you have been eating this way.
When I first started eating a raw food diet, I ate a lot and often. I didn't follow food combining and ate very late into the night. At that time in my life, more than 15 years ago, that was a big improvement from how I used to eat. However, after many years of cleansing, I desire much less food and hardly ever eat late at night.
Another important thing to remember is if a person is dealing with a health challenge, their diet needs to be adjusted to allow for the best healing. People with cancer need to stop consuming sugar, including fruit. But someone just looking to improve their health can include fruit in their diet, but it should still be in small amounts.
I have found over the years the healthiest way to eat is according to
The Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, FL. For 52 years, they have been fine-tuning their program to help people in all situations.
Other key points to remember is that you do not have to consume 100% raw foods to be healthy. The only reason I personally eat 100% raw foods is because I have no desire for cooked foods. If I did, I would certainly enjoy a cooked meal sometimes. But the majority of your diet should be raw foods. It's helpful to study and learn, but be careful who you listen to because many people are making errors in their teachings. In the past, I myself have learned from my mistakes. But it is wise that you learn from other people's errors and not your own. Some common issues I see are people switching to a raw food diet and eating too much fruit. Fruit is an excellent food, but if you consume too much sugar, you can run into health issues, even if that sugar is from fruit.
Another issue is that some people do not want to supplement their diet. I agree that if raw foods are so good for us, why do we need supplements? Well, the soil today is very depleted, and besides that, you can hardly get ripe produce at grocery or health stores, so you may not be getting all you need from the food. The best way to know if you are getting all you need is to simply monitor your blood work. I suggest everyone take a blood test at least once a year. As for what supplements are best, other than digestive enzymes, I recommend
probiotics,
B-12 Forte and a
green powder super food. Let your blood work help you decide what you may need. Stay away from synthetic supplements and instead, choose whole foods in a supplement form. I have looked for many years at what supplements are the best and the two highest quality supplements I found are
HHI Life-Give Line and also
The New Vitamin Code by Jordan Rubin's Garden of Life.
Another issue is that people are being deceived to consume foods that are not healthy just because they have the words "Raw Food" on the label. Just because it says raw food doesn't mean it's healthy. In fact, some can be very toxic to the body. An example is raw chocolate. It's a very toxic, addicting food that many people love and enjoy often. I would suggest carob over cacao. Another example is agave syrup. It is just like high fructose corn syrup but people are consuming it, thinking it's healthy. It's not.
These are just some of the issues I find when I meet people embarking on the raw food adventure. In my next post, I'll be talking about what to eat if you are dealing with a health challenge.
A common question people ask is what do I eat?
I will now tell you what I ate yesterday, and before anyone writes me back with a ton of questions and suggestions, I want everyone to know that this is my personal diet, and I don't suggest anyone else try it until they understand about health and the body. If you do truly understand, you will not ask simple questions like, where do you get all your calories from? or where do you get your protein from? If you do have those questions, I will be happy to address them again, but they are not issues. Also, I am a very active person; I exercise and maintain a healthy weight.
Here is what I usually eat:
9:00 a.m. Hemp milk or Almond milk (home made)
2:00 p.m. Big Salad or a bunch of small salads depending upon where I am and what they have
This diet above is beneficial if I get to sleep and wake up at a good time. I usually go to bed around 10:30 p.m. and wake-up around 6:30 a.m. However if I am on the road traveling or have a lot of work to do at home, these times can change. Sometimes I get to bed around midnight and wake up around 7 or 8 am.
Okay, that's all for now, you wanted my diet and now you have it. Let me know you’re out there. Comments are welcomed.
Have a great day.
